Shimoga District - Population 2011-2024

An official Census 2011 detail of Shimoga, a district of Karnataka has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Karnataka. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Shimoga District of Karnataka.

In 2011, Shimoga had population of 1,752,753 of which male and female were 877,415 and 875,338 respectively. In 2001 census, Shimoga had a population of 1,642,545 of which males were 830,559 and remaining 811,986 were females. Shimoga District population constituted 2.87 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Shimoga District was at 3.11 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 6.71 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Shimoga District recorded increase of 13.10 percent to its population compared to 1991.


Shimoga Literacy Rate

Average literacy rate of Shimoga in 2011 were 80.45 compared to 80.45 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 86.07 and 74.84 respectively.
