An official Census 2011 detail of Gadag, a district of Karnataka has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Karnataka. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Gadag District of Karnataka.

In 2011, Gadag had population of 1,064,570 of which male and female were 537,147 and 527,423 respectively. In 2001 census, Gadag had a population of 971,835 of which males were 493,533 and remaining 478,302 were females. Gadag District population constituted 1.74 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Gadag District was at 1.84 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 9.54 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Gadag District recorded increase of 13.13 percent to its population compared to 1991.
