In 2011, Gumla had population of 1,025,213 of which male and female were 514,390 and 510,823 respectively. In 2001 census, Gumla had a population of 832,447 of which males were 418,784 and remaining 413,663 were females. Gumla District population constituted 3.11 percent of total Maharashtra population.
