In 2011, Chatra had population of 1,042,886 of which male and female were 533,935 and 508,951 respectively. In 2001 census, Chatra had a population of 791,434 of which males
were 404,067 and remaining 387,367 were females. Chatra District population
constituted 3.16 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Chatra District was at 2.94
percent of Maharashtra population.
