An official Census 2011 detail of Nicobars (Nicobar), a district of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Nicobars District of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In 2011, Nicobars had population of 36,842 of which male and female were 20,727 and 16,115 respectively. In 2001 census, Nicobars had a population of 42,068 of which males were 22,653 and remaining 19,415 were females. Nicobars District population constituted 9.68 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Nicobars District was at 17.35 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of -12.42 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Nicobars District recorded increase of 7.29 percent to its population compared to 1991.
