An official Census 2011 detail of Bastar, a district of Chhattisgarh has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Chhattisgarh. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Bastar District of Chhattisgarh.

In 2011, Bastar had population of 1,413,199 of which male and female were 698,487 and 714,712 respectively. In 2001 census, Bastar had a population of 1,198,067 of which males were 595,779 and remaining 602,288 were females. Bastar District population constituted 5.53 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Bastar District was at 5.75 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 17.96 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Bastar District recorded increase of 18.18 percent to its population compared to 1991.
