In 2001 census, Gulbarga had a population of 2,174,742 of which males were 1,110,442 and remaining 1,064,200 were females. Gulbarga District population constituted 4.20 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Gulbarga District was at 4.11 percent of Maharashtra population.
