has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir.
In 2011, Kargil had population of 140,802 of which male and female were 77,785 and 63,017 respectively. In 2001 census, Kargil had a population of 119,307 of which males were 64,955 and remaining 54,352 were females. Kargil District population constituted 1.12 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Kargil District was at 1.18 percent of Maharashtra population.
There was change of 18.02 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Kargil District recorded increase of 33.55 percent to its population compared to 1991.
