Kargil District - Population 2011-2024

An official Census 2011 detail of Kargil, a district of Jammu and Kashmir has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2011, Kargil had population of 140,802 of which male and female were 77,785 and 63,017 respectively. In 2001 census, Kargil had a population of 119,307 of which males were 64,955 and remaining 54,352 were females. Kargil District population constituted 1.12 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Kargil District was at 1.18 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 18.02 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Kargil District recorded increase of 33.55 percent to its population compared to 1991.


Kargil Literacy Rate

Average literacy rate of Kargil in 2011 were 71.34 compared to 71.34 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 83.15 and 56.30 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 75.83 and 42.38 in Kargil District. Total literate in Kargil District were 86,236 of which male and female were 56,301 and 29,935 respectively. Kargil Child Population

In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including Kargil. There were total 19,928 children under age of 0-6 against 19,928 of 2001 census. Of total 19,928 male and female were 10,078 and 9,850 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 977 compared to 977 of census 2001.
