Assam Population goes upto 3.11 Crore : Census 2011

According 2011 Census of India, Assam’s population has reached approximately 3.11 Crore an increase of 16.93 percent from the past decade. Assam feeds approximately 2.58% of India’s total population.

As per census report of Assam, of total population figures 31,169,272 male and female were 15,954,927 and 15,214,345 respectively. In 2001, Assam’s population was 26,655,528 approximately 2.67 Crore.

Assam is one of the states or Union Territory of India having total area of 78,438 sq km. currently density per sq. km in Assam is 397 per Sq.km which stand above than national average density of India currently being at 382. If measurement is shifted from Kilometer to Mile, Assam’s total area becomes 30,285 Sq mi having density of approximately 1,029 per Sq mi.

As per preliminary report of Census 2011, Assam has literacy rate of 73.18 which is below national average of 74.04 percent. Total 19,507,017 people were found literate in Assam as per 2011 census report. In 2001, Assam had 63.25% literacy rate.

In literacy, of total 19,507,017 literate populations, 10,756,937 were male while remaining 8,750,080 forms female. In percentage, male were 78.81 percent literate while female were having 67.27 percent literacy. In 2001, male and female were having literacy rate of 75.23% and 51.85% respectively. Total literate in 2001 census were 14,015,354 of which male and female formed figure of 8,188,697 and 5,826,657 respectively for Assam.

With regards to Sex Ratio also known as Gender Ratio, Assam surpass average sexratio of India. India’s average Gender Ratio increased to 940 from the past figure of 933. As of 2011, Assam’s Sex Ratio stands out at 954 which was at 932 in 2001 census.
